LaneWise — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
LaneWise (“the app”) is a driving-theory study app published by Dangab (package app.dangab.driverprep). This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information. Questions: dangab.apps@gmail.com.
Information stored only on your device
The app saves the following on your device so it can work. It is not transmitted to us or anyone else, and it is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its storage:
- the state / region you pick during setup;
- an optional exam date, if you enter one;
- your study progress and statistics (questions answered, accuracy, per-topic results, mock-exam results);
- the list of questions you have answered incorrectly (“My mistakes”);
- app settings (light/dark theme, and the crash-report toggle described below).
Optional crash reports
The app has a Settings → “Crash reports” switch. When it is on, and if crash reporting has been enabled in the released build, the app sends anonymous diagnostic data if it crashes, using Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service). A crash report contains only technical information such as the type of error, where in the code it happened, your device model, Android version, and the app version.
- A crash report contains no name, email address, account identifier, or location, and none of your answers or study data.
- It is never used for advertising or profiling.
- It is sent over an encrypted connection. Google processes it on our behalf as a data processor; see Google's Privacy Policy and the Firebase Crashlytics data-collection notes.
- Crashlytics keeps reports for a limited period (about 90 days by default).
You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Crash reports. With it off, the app sends nothing. Some published builds ship with crash reporting disabled entirely, in which case the switch has no effect and no data is sent regardless.
Ads
LaneWise is free and shows ads from Google AdMob unless you buy Premium:
- Banner ads at the bottom of the Home, topic list, progress, mistakes, diagnostic summary and mock-exam result screens. Banners never appear on a question, an answer choice or an explanation.
- An occasional full-screen ad after you finish the optional “5 more questions” review — at most one per day, never during your first two days with the app (counted from install, or from the first launch after updating), and only after you close the review summary.
- Optional rewarded ads that play only when you tap to watch one: to unlock the Bonus Practice Test, to earn a streak shield, or to restore a streak you lost yesterday.
How ads work:
- Where required by law (for example in the EEA/UK), a consent prompt (Google's User Messaging Platform) is shown before any ad is requested. If you decline or the prompt has not been resolved, no ad is requested.
- Showing an ad requires an internet connection and involves Google requesting and delivering the ad, which can include technical identifiers such as your advertising ID, general device information, and approximate location derived from your IP address. See Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services for details of what AdMob may process.
- We do not receive or store anything about you from this — for rewarded ads, LaneWise only learns whether the ad finished successfully.
Optional Premium purchase
LaneWise offers an optional, one-time Premium purchase (Settings → Premium) that removes ads and includes the Bonus Practice Test. This is entirely optional — every other part of the app works identically whether or not you ever buy it.
- The purchase itself is handled entirely by Google Play's own purchase sheet. LaneWise never collects, sees, or stores your payment card details — Google processes the transaction and only tells the app whether the purchase succeeded.
- Confirming a purchase requires an internet connection; the app also checks with Google Play once when it starts, so a purchase already made on this Google account is restored automatically (for example after reinstalling).
- See Google's Privacy Policy and Google Play's Terms of Service for how Google Play itself handles payment information.
Feedback you choose to send
If you use Settings → Feedback and choose to send a comment, the app opens your own email application with a draft addressed to dangab.apps@gmail.com containing the text you wrote. Nothing is sent unless you send that email yourself. If you do, we receive whatever you chose to put in it, and use it only to reply to you and to improve the app.
Rating the app
If you choose to rate LaneWise, the app opens Google Play's in-app review dialog. Any rating or review you leave is handled by Google Play under Google's terms, not by us, and we do not receive personal information through it.
Permissions and network use
The only runtime permission the app may ask for is notifications (Android 13 and later), and only after you finish your first question of the day, to send one daily reminder. You can decline it or turn reminders off in Settings. Reminders, the home-screen widget, your streak and your study progress are computed and stored only on your device.
Network access is used to request and show ads (unless you have Premium), to upload a crash report while that feature is on, to complete a Premium purchase if and when you start one, and to check once at startup whether a Premium purchase already exists on your Google Play account (see above). Without an internet connection every study feature keeps working and no ads are shown.
Children
LaneWise is intended for people preparing for a driver's licence and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties, except: the anonymous crash reports processed by Google (Firebase Crashlytics) when that feature is enabled, ad requests processed by Google (AdMob/UMP) for users without Premium, and the purchase transaction processed by Google Play only if and when you buy Premium — all described above.
Your choices
- Turn crash reports on or off in Settings → Crash reports.
- Buy Premium to remove all ads — no ad requests are made after that.
- Turn the daily reminder off, or deny the notification permission; everything else works the same.
- Never buy Premium — every study feature works identically either way, and Google Play only ever sees a purchase request when you start one.
- Delete everything the app has stored by uninstalling it or clearing its storage in your device's app settings.
- Email dangab.apps@gmail.com with any privacy question or request.
